Background and career to date

Having initially trained as a teacher Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1989. Since then he has handled a wide range of litigation matters with an emphasis on family cases. Having spent almost ten years as a specialist children's lawyer he has for a number of years focussed more on divorce and finance.

A member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors' Family Law Association) he has a detailed knowledge of the law and procedures of matrimonial finance. Ian is one of only three solicitors in the country whose wide experience has led to him being qualified as a Solicitor Advocate, Family Mediator and Collaborative Lawyer. He has personal experience of divorce and believes that as a result he has a far better empathy and understanding of the trauma affecting separated families. His unique experience enables him to give you the very best service.

He is able to offer international family mediation and will travel to assist clients in their negotiations.

Patient, sensitive to the needs of his clients and with a calm manner, he is able to discuss a range of family and mediation services to meet your particular needs.

Outside interests

Trained as a Tae Kwon Do instructor, with interests varying from skiing to hillwalking and from keeping poultry to field sports Ian has always kept himself busy across a wide range of activities.
